MC Salon Spa & Studio

MC Salon Spa & Studio started out on Wix with a simple three-page site: a homepage, a shop page with a handful of products, and a contact page. It was hard for them to update, and once COVID hit they needed a lot more from it. They wanted to sell and ship hair products to their clients and offer curbside pickup, so the online shop had to become a real part of the business.

This was my first big technical project built around an in-depth CMS. I started with the homepage, filling it out with what the salon is about, where to book, a look at their stylists, and contact info at the bottom. From there I built out the service pages, covering everything on their menu: haircuts, color, extensions, hair treatments, styling, and men's grooming, plus their spa and lash services. Then came the bulk of the work, a custom ecommerce store built on the Webflow CMS. After months of designing and developing, the site launched in January 2021.

A couple weeks after launch, Stripe flagged the store for carrying CBD products and terminated the account. With so much work already built into the ecommerce pages, scrapping it wasn't an option. So I went headless, with Webflow on the front end and Shopify on the back end.

This part was technical and tedious. Every product was uploaded to Shopify, and each product item in the Webflow CMS got its own Shopify buy button embed with a unique code for that product. That way the site wasn't just showing one big embedded Shopify iframe. Each CMS item output its own product dynamically, so the storefront still looked and worked like the rest of the site while checkout ran through Shopify.

The best part was that the client never had to touch the ecommerce pages. They could manage the whole store in Shopify and the Shopify app, and the site kept up on its own.

The owners sold the business in 2024, and the site is now run by someone else on a different platform. This version doesn't exist anymore, but it was my first big CMS build and taught me a lot.
